When I was eighteen, I took a drawing course at college. I hadn't drawn since grade school; everyone else had had some training. While I was still struggling with shapes and shadows, the rest of the class was going on to models and flower arrangements and landscapes. I don't remember if I passed or not. I don't think I did.

I do know I threw in the towel, figuratively speaking, and focused on writing.

Twenty years later, I'm trying it again.

Every scrap here was done between May - July 2004 at my former job, on whatever paper was handy. (Avery shipping labels, obviously)

They're all pretty hideous.

So why are they here?

Because I want to do *something* with them ; they've been sitting in a beat-up accordion folder since July.

As I (hopefully) get better and submit actual finished pieces, I'd like to have a record of where I began.
